Gallery Slunecna was created as an experimental exhibition space designed to link the historical features and the extraordinary beautiful countryside to its surroundings. It is located on Bio Farm Slunecna on the Czech-German-Austrian border in the vicinity of Sumava National Park.
Art exhibitions, concerts, workshops and other cultural actions are organized in this scenic space.
The exhibition by BlueLine art group UNFOCUSED held in the area of the reconstructed stables and the installation of wood sculpture “Brittle Balance” by the sculptor Jiri Vanek at the open area was the first (debut) event in 2011.
In preparation for the exhibition the reconstruction of stables, cleaning, adjustment of wood beams and other visible wood components, installation of hanging system and lighting was done (see http://66dioptrii.unfocused.cz/post/8183217417/blueline-na-slunecne ).
Exhibitions have two independent areas. In one area exhibitions will be presented from spring to autumn and in the other they will run for the whole year. The terms for exhibitions in the Stable starts at the beginning of spring when the last snow melts and the stabled animals are moved to pastures, the stables are cleared, mobile equipment renewed and the first exhibition is installed. The exhibition season ends with the first snow when the animals are moved back to the stables.
The division of Stable into two independent areas, which you can access via a mutual entrance, enables Gallery Slunecna to focus on the main exhibition activity. Especially the focus will be on common Czech-European exhibitions at which Czech, German, Austrian and other European artists or art groups will be invited to exhibit. An Integral part of exhibitions will be international workshops partly with participating authors and partly with broader cultural topics (depends on invited persons).
The focus is especially on young and emerging authors and the dialog at two parts exhibitions will focus on dialogue between generations (young author – older author, teacher - student etc.) and the priority will participation of South Czech artists.
The second exhibition space is a multiuse area. The first floor of newly constructed restaurant (in the reconstructed building) and will hold exhibitions all year round (titled Gallery R2).
There are many exhibitions possibilities for sculptors and performers to exhibit for the whole year in the exterior area:
Large area is near the road with panorama tic view of the countryside (with good visibility of big objects from the distance), an inner yard between the Stable and restaurant and other places (with possibility of placing suitable artefacts in Sumava National Park).
During the construction of the organic farm an area for sculpture workshops was taken into consideration.
After the beginning of summer season a sheltered area of 100 m2 and 4 meters high and sheltered from the wind and with an open view of the surrounding countryside is for disposition.
Art photography is the preferred sphere for exhibitions and we prepare other exhibitions and actions (sculptures, paintings and concerts) and civic society UNFOCUSED is commissioned with their dramaturgy.
